Am I eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant?

As you may be aware, the school receives funding from central government via a number of streams. One of these is known as the pupil premium grant, which is allocated on the grounds of family income and entitlement to free school meals.
The government has introduced the pupil premium grant to help children from low income families reach their full potential and to achieve higher academic grades at school.
It is, therefore, very important that you register your child for the pupil premium grant even if he or she does not wish to have a meal. Similarly you must register even if they are in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and therefore entitled to a Free School Meal anyway. This is very important as the school budget is affected by the number of children entitled to Free School Meals.
The level of funding that the school will receive for 2017/18 is £1320 for each child that is registered as meeting the statutory free school meal criteria. This additional funding will enable the school to provide support in a variety of ways including extra tuition, additional teaching staff and financial assistance with residential trips, outings and clubs. In order to determine if your child qualifies and to allow us to claim the funding it is important that all parents and carers who feel they may meet the criteria below collect a form from the School Office or follow the link below.
Parents do not have to pay for school lunches if they receive any of the following:
- Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400
- Income Support
- Income based Job Seeker’s Allowance
- Income related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual gross income of no more than £16,190, as assessed by HMRC
- Working Tax Credit - ‘run-on’ payment only
The information provided on the form will be used by Babcock’s 4S, Surrey County Council’s agent, to check for eligibility to claim the pupil premium grant from central government. It will be used for no other purposes and will remain confidential to the school and Babcock 4S.
You only need to complete this form once and it will last for the duration of your child’s time here at Woodlea Primary School.
