Nichola Riches

Headteacher

Mrs Riches has been teaching for 22 years and joined Woodlea in January 2013, becoming Headteacher in April 2014.  Before Mrs Riches came to Woodlea, she taught for 13 years at The Hayes Primary School in Kenley and before that she was with St John’s Primary School in Croydon for 3 years.

Daniel Cole

Staff Governor

Mr Cole is into his fifth year of teaching and joined Woodlea Primary School in September 2017 as Year 6 Class Teacher and Literacy Co-ordinator. Mr Cole started his teaching career at Amy Johnson Primary School, Wallington, where he taught across Key Stage 2.

Rev Dr Catherine Dowland Pillinger

Local Governor

Catherine is the Team Vicar of the Woldingham Churches and she is keen to continue to develop the already good relationship between Woodlea and St. Paul’s, which form two of the most important centres of community life in the village. Her professional career prior to being ordained was in education, where in addition to teaching, she held various pastoral and administrative posts in further and higher education, most recently as Head of Student Services at Trinity College of Music, where she led the welfare and support services for the student body. At Woodlea, she acts as the Governor responsible for Pupil Premium and Looked After Children, as well as maintaining the church’s links with Woodlea by leading assemblies and services for the school.

Kate Forde

Local Governor

Kate joined the Woodlea governing body in October 2018 having spent the previous 5 years as a governor to a local secondary school.  'I have enjoyed learning more about the education sector and contributing in a small way to the life and success of the school. My professional background is in Human Resources and over the last 25 years I have worked across a variety of industries.  Currently I work on a self-employed basis providing ad-hoc HR advice and support to local businesses.   I have 2 teenage children and have lived in Caterham for 15 years.'

Malcolm Booth

Local Governor

Chair

Malcolm spent 30 years working for different banks in Indonesia and Singapore as well as London. He retired from his position as Head of Structured Finance aged 50.

After being in retirement for two months he was headhunted as a bursar for a Primary School in Special Measures in central London and retired again after seventeen years with the school, which was by then outstanding and in the top ten per cent of the Primary schools in the UK.

Malcolm has been Chair of Governors at Woodlea since July 2018.

Susie Brain

Parent Governor

Susie is excited to have joined the Woodlea governing body.  She has two children at Woodlea Primary School.  Having grown up in Woldingham, she returned with her husband, James, 8 years ago.  From her professional life as a city lawyer, she brings experience of corporate governance/compliance matters.  Susie believes that a positive experience at Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 sets children up for life long learning.

Linda O’Callaghan

Local Governor

Linda is the CEO and Executive Headteacher of a successful Multi Academy Trust in Croydon. She has also been Deputy Headteacher of a large Catholic Primary School and Acting Headteacher of a Church of England Primary School. As a class teacher she has taught across the primary phase and during the past 7 years has supported many other schools both within and beyond Croydon as a Consultant Headteacher to drive school improvement.

Linda has expertise in all areas of school leadership and her vision is to provide outstanding, aspirational education for all children within a caring, supportive family of learners. Linda recently completed a Masters in Education Leadership.
